Rep: Richard Gere Did Not Slam ‘Pretty Woman’ (Updated)

Despite a report claiming that Richard Gere slammed his 1990 hit “Pretty Woman,” the actor’s rep tells Access Hollywood otherwise.

Australia’s Woman’s Day claimed that the 62-year-old called the movie, co-starring Julia Roberts, “silly” and his “least favorite thing,” but his rep told Access he did not speak with the publication.

“All a bunch of BS,” Gere’s rep, Alan Nierob, told Access.

“He didn’t do an interview with that Australian publication,” the rep continued.

On Tuesday afternoon, a rep for Woman’s Day responded to a request for comment from Access Hollywood.

“Woman’s Day stands by our story and our journalist Henry Meller,” the rep said in an e-mail to Access. “He spoke to Mr Gere at the Sundance Film Festival ahead of and immediately after the premiere of ‘Arbitrage.’”

The actor is currently starring in “Arbitrage” with Susan Sarandon, which recently screened at the Sundance and is awaiting release sometime this year.
