Report: Booted ‘American Idol’ Pia Toscano Inks A Record Deal

Less than two days after her shocking elimination from “American Idol,” Pia Toscano has reportedly landed a record deal.

The easy-on-the-eyes New York native has been signed to “Idol” mentor Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records for her debut album, according to Us Weekly.

“Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP,” a source reportedly familiar with the contract told the mag. “Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning, Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it.

“Papers are being finalized,” the source reportedly added. “It’s basically a done deal. She’s signing. They rushed everything but she’s so excited.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the 22-year-old big-voiced brunette was cut from “Idol’s” Season 10 on Thursday night, in a surprising elimination that left the judges at a loss for words.

“I’m shocked, I’m angry. I don’t even know what to say,” judge Jennifer Lopez said, tearing up, before quickly composing herself.

“I’m gutted, you’re one of the best singers in this, you know what I’m saying?” a shocked Randy Jackson chimed in.

Judge Steven Tyler, however, blamed America, suggesting the voting public got it totally wrong.

“I don’t know. America, man. You know, a mistake is one thing, but lack of passion is unforgivable. They’re wrong,” he said. “I don’t know what happened with this. She’s beautiful. When she sings, she’s a bird.”

A rep for Interscope was not immediately available for confirmation on the contract news when contacted by Access Hollywood on Saturday.
