Report: Conan O’Brien ‘Has Not Accepted’ Late Night Switch

Conan O’Brien has not yet accepted a move to midnight on NBC, according to the New York Times.

The paper reported that reps for the comedian are “privately saying” the “Tonight Show” host is unlikely to opt for it anytime soon.

AccessHollywood.com previously reported that Jay Leno’s “The Jay Leno Show” would be moving to his old “Tonight Show” time of 11:35 PM, with “The Tonight Show” pushed back to midnight — should Conan agree to the switch.

If Conan does not agree, however, the Times reported that he could be headed to another network, possibly finding a new home at Fox.

“We’ve always been interested in late night and we’re always looking to bring great new talent to Fox,” a Fox source told the paper. “While Conan would be a great fit for Fox, he’s still under contract with NBC, so we’ll just see how all of this plays out.”

During Friday night’s “Tonight Show” monologue, Conan joked about the situation, saying, “We’ve got a great show for you tonight. I have no idea what time it will air — but it’s going to be a great show.”

Jay also joked once more about the situation on Friday, poking fun at another late-night star — longtime rival David Letterman.

“NBC is thinking about canceling our show. Do ya know what that means? I didn’t sleep with any of my staff for nothing,” Jay joked.
