Report: Heath Ledger And Michelle Williams Split

Actors Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams have ended their relationship of three years, Us Weekly reports.

A source close to the couple reportedly told US that Heath and Michelle “quietly and amicably split a few weeks ago.”

“The relationship had been rocky recently,” the source is quoted as saying. “They tried very hard to make it work but finally decided to separate. They just grew apart.”

Ledger and Williams had been living in Brooklyn, NY, with their daughter, Mathilda (born in Oct. 2005).

“They have a beautiful daughter and they are both committed to being great parents,” the source reportedly said.

Reps for the couple could not be reached by US.

The pair met in 2004 while filming “Brokeback Mountain,” for which they were both nominated for Academy Awards.

Both Ledger and Williams are featured in Todd Haynes’ Bob Dylan film, “I’m Not There,” opening in limited domestic release on Nov. 21. Ledger is one of several actors (including Richard Gere, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett) embodying different “aspects” of the legendary musician’s life and work in the movie, while Williams will play a model named Coco Rivington.

Williams has also completed work on the action thriller “The Tourist” with Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman (U.S. release date TBD), and Ledger will star as the villainous Joker in next summer’s “Batman Begins” sequel, “The Dark Knight.”
