Reps For Shia LaBeouf Issue Statement Over Crash

A rep for Shia LaBeouf has issued a statement to Access Hollywood, following the star’s crash in Hollywood early Sunday morning.

“Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008,” LaBeouf’s reps said in the statement.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, LaBeouf was involved in a crash, around 2:30 AM on Sunday morning in Hollywood. The green Ford he was driving flipped as he attempted to make a left-hand turn.

He and a female passenger in his car were taken to a nearby hospital. LaBeouf was cited, arrested and released on suspicion of driving under the influence, a spokesperson for the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department told Access.

Authorities previously told Access that the actor received injuries to his left hand during the crash. The actor was prepped for surgery at 5:30 AM on Sunday.

LaBeouf’s reps confirmed the injury but noted the surgery on the actor repaired more damage than was originally suspected.

“Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of ‘Transformers 2’ within one month,” his reps’ statement continued. “No further comment will be issued at this time.”
