Rick Springfield Returning To General Hospital; Real Life Son Joining Cast

Rick Springfield – and his real life son — Liam Springthorpe are heading to “General Hospital,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Rick, will again reprise his role as Dr. Noah Drake, father to the soap’s Dr. Patrick Drake (played by actor Jason Thompson), a rep for Rick told Access.

The actor/singer’s last appearance on the show – in March 2012 – tied in with the death of Patrick’s wife – Robin Scorpio (though, as “GH” fans remember, she survived, but is being held against her will, abroad).

Liam is set to play an undercover cop, and he admitted to People, which broke the casting news, that he “feels a bit weird” about appearing on the soap, which also boasts his dad as part of the cast. He told the mag that he is “putting aside the fact that this show sort of launched my dad and just kind of taking it for what it is.”

“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC.
