Rihanna Approached To Judge ‘The X Factor’; Turned Gig Down

Rihanna says she was approached to join Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor,” but the superstar singer was forced to turn down the gig due to her busy schedule and upcoming tour.

“I just heard about it actually, but, yes, it’s something that I would have loved to do, actually. But our schedule doesn’t allow,” the 23-year-old pop star told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” on 102.7 KIIS FM, on Wednesday morning.

“We’re gonna be on tour for the rest of the year and it’s a demanding schedule to be on that show,” she continued. “You have to kind of be around for a long time, months at a time, which is impossible for me… I’ll be on tour for the rest of the year.”

One project Rihanna was able to fit into her grueling schedule was working with Britney Spears on their duet remix of her current hit single “S&M,” which dropped earlier this week.

“It was automatic, it was a go. She was like, ‘I would love to do it.’ She was very, very great, very professional and she worked really hard at it,” Rihanna explained. “I think that’s what makes this collaboration so special, mainly because it’s two female artists within the same genre of music. We have similar sounds and I think it’s very unexpected to see two artists of similar genres like that collaborate and get together. So, I think the fans are really appreciative of that.”

Rihanna joked with Ryan that her current single relationship status makes it hard for her watch E!‘s “Khloe and Lamar,” which the media mogul produces.

“Besides me being single, it makes it really difficult to watch ‘Khloe and Lamar,’ they’re so in love!” she said. “I mean, it’s so cute. It’s really is great to see a little bit into their personal lives… really and truly, they have a magical connection. It was really special to see that.”

Ryan asked the Grammy winner if men are intimidated to date her.

“Not to sounds crazy, but yes. And I think that’s very difficult because, it’s a lot for them to handle, especially being in the public eye. It can be difficult. It can be tricky,” she said, adding that she’s still hopeful about finding the right guy. “There’s gonna be someone who is not intimidated or not afraid to put me in my place.”

Rihanna is scheduled to appear on Thursday’s “American Idol,” where she said she’d be performing her new single, “California King Bed.”
