Rihanna & Lady Gaga’s Fierce Fashion Inspirations

Pop stars Rihanna and Lady Gaga don’t just top the charts – between the two of them, they arguably have the wildest wardrobes in music.

But looking so haute is hard work.

“In the past few months I’ve done a lot of research in the fashion world because I wanted to work with a bunch of designers that are kinda underground, people who aren’t the obvious,” Rihanna recently told the U.K.’s Grazia. “I found this guy Alexander Voltaire — his stuff is just so amazing, the colors are really beautiful and feminine but the structure is really strong, which I love.”

According to New York Magazine, she’s also worn such non-mainstream (but still highly-acclaimed!) designers as Rick Owens, Eddie Borgo, Balmain, Gareth Pugh and Stephane Rolland in recent months.

Meanwhile, Gaga’s fierce looks – which often draw on an array of masks, hairpieces and sparkling materials — are assisted by her main stylist, Nicola Formichetti. According to FashionTribes.com, the stylist has worked in the past with Chloe Sevigny, Gael Garcia Bernal and Jake Gyllenhaal, among others, and collaborated with Gaga on her cover shoot for “The Fame Monster.”

Nicola, who is an editor at several fashion publications, also contributed to Gaga’s sexy shoot earlier this year for the cover of V Magazine.
