Rihanna has turned to a classic to help Haiti.
The singer has released a cover of Bob Marley’s classic “Redemption Song” online to benefit relief in the earthquake-stricken nation.
She performed the track on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Wednesday, telling Oprah, “I feel the people of Haiti need to hear something inspiring.
“This song, for me, any time there was a difficult situation, I always listened to this song. It’s so liberating,” she continued.
Rihanna will also be among the many musicians performing on the “Hope for Haiti” telethon on Friday evening, joining Jay-Z and U2’s Bono and The Edge for a special performance.
All performances from the telethon will be available for purchase for charity, while still more artists are planning on doing benefit songs for the island nation – according to the Daily Mail, “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell is gathering talent for a British effort, while The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz 411 blog reported that Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie are planning a 25th anniversary re-recording of “We Are The World.”
