Rising Star: Kelly Blatz

From Starbucks to secret agent — that’s the story of Kelly Blatz, AccessHollywood.com’s latest Rising Star.

The former Burbank barista is starring currently in Disney XD’s latest series, “Aaron Stone,” as Charlie, a normal high schooler with a gift for the video game “Hero Rising.” He then becomes a secret agent after a mysterious billionaire recruits him to put his gaming talents to use in real life.

“He’s the best player in the world at this video game,” Kelly told AccessHollywood.com’s Dish of Salt, Laura Saltman.

“He is approached by a billionaire recluse who says this is actually a training ground for a real-life secret agent and he has to become Aaron Stone, which is his [avatar] in the game.”

For Kelly, who’s also had roles on the films “Prom Night” and “Simon Says,” “Aaron” has been a dream, come true.

“To be able to play a title character is great and he’s a superhero,” he said. “It’s always been a childhood dream of mine so to do it is just incredible.”

Just a few years back, the Burbank, California, native was working at Starbucks, waiting for his big break – and dating “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively, whom he took to their high school prom. And, he said, they’re still close.

“We’ve been childhood friends and she’s amazing,” Kelly said. “I’m so happy for her. We talk every now and again — she’s in New York, so it’s hard.”

But for now, it sounds like Kelly’s more concerned with his work than going after girls – and his rock band, Capra, which he fronts.

“When I’m home and not working on the show I’m dedicated to the music and my boys,” he said. “We like Zeppelin, all that old school rock ‘n’ roll.”
