Rita Wilson Talks Upcoming Album & Getting Over ‘Fear’ Of Judgment

Rita Wilson is venturing into the music world by releasing her own album – an idea inspired by her work on The Great White Way.

“I’ve always loved music,” Rita told Access Hollywood at UNICEF’s Playlist for the A-List event in Los Angeles of her upcoming album AM/FM came about. “My life started shifting more towards music when I did ‘Chicago’ on Broadway and I realized that if I didn’t reconnect with music, then I was going to be really unhappy.”

The idea for Rita’s new album developed after she approached a friend about wanting to create a musical featuring hits from the ‘60s and ‘70s. She was consequently offered a record deal, which she admits initially found a bit frightening.

“You have to get over that fear because there’s so much judgment out there nowadays,” she told Access. “You can’t do anything without being insulted on the Internet or something. So, I just have to hope that people will like what I do.”

Adding, “I love the process, so that’s good.”

The actress, who currently plays lawyer Viola Walsh on CBS’ legal drama, “The Good Wife,” will soon hit the road to perform her music for fans as well.

“I have dates coming up! We’re just about to announce all of this stuff,” she said. “It’s really super exciting! It’s a dream come true.”

AM/FM is slated for release on May 8.
