Robert Downey Jr. On His Son’s Terrible Twos & Having A Girl On The Way

Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan are in the midst of dealing with son Exton’s “terrible twos,” but the actor said the notoriously difficult years haven’t been too bad so far.

“It’s easy,” RDJ joked to Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez at the junket for his new film, “The Judge,” when asked about his little boy.

“Yeah, he just wants to sling open drawers and grab knives,” he continued. “It’s really not stressful at all! When he first started walking, it was kind of like, alright, this is a little bit exhausting and terrifying, and then he kind of smoothed out and now he can climb things.”

Exton’s newfound climbing ability has Robert worried, as he had a scary experience during his own childhood.

“I just remember when I was 2 or 3 or 4 years old, I found my way to the top of the refrigerator and I hung out there, that was like my spot until I lost my footing and banged my head on the radiator,” he recalled. “I remember some doctors squeezing my head… I don’t want him to fall off the refrigerator.”

Exton will soon be a big brother, as Robert and Susan are expecting a little girl in November – something the “Iron Man” star is looking forward to.

“It should be great,” he said. “I wonder [what] a little girl Downey will be like. I’m sure she’ll let us know.”

“The Judge” hits theaters on October 10.
