ROLL CALL: Brit The Children’s Fashion Designer & Booted ‘Idols’ Duet

Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenaningans

Britney Starting Children’s Clothing Line: In yet another possible turn in the right direction for Britney Spears, an Ed Hardy representative told People the pop star is looking to step into the design world, saying “She wants to work on a clothing line with Christian [Audigier]. It was a closed door meeting, but we will say that they are planning to do a children’s clothing line.” Torn toddler fishnets are all the rage on the playground!

Booted ‘Idols’ Bunk Together: The most recent “Idol” contestant to get the ax, Ramiele Malubay, told People that she plans to move in with fellow booted contestant Danny Noriega, saying, “I’m not sure yet when we’re going to move in together because of the tour and what not, but I do know we’re going to! We’re really close. We still talk every single day.” As for the two booted “Idols” joining forces musically? “Me and Danny will do a duet — regardless,” she told People. We can only imagine the musical magic this pair will unleash.

Lauren Conrad Not Stumping Like Heidi: Despite fellow “Hills” star Heidi Montag’s recent endorsement of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Lauren Conrad is taking a more quiet approach to the upcoming election, Us reports. “Lauren Conrad believes in a private ballot but encourages everyone to vote,” her rep told The New York Times. No word on who Brody or Spencer might endorse or even if they know an election is happening.

Kelly Ripa’s Love For Kathie Lee: Don’t expect any morning talk show catfights between Kelly Ripa and Kathie Lee Gifford. Kelly told People she only has love for the woman who used to have her job, saying, “I’m so exited for her. Everybody’s like, ‘Have you ever met her?’ I’m like, met her? I know her intimately! I’m so happy for her.” Not only does Kelly know Kathie well, but she also said the new “Today” co-host helped shape her own career, telling People, “She’s very influential in my life. I saw her doing it all – a working mom. She had a big impact on me.” As much as we’d love to see some drama here, it’s good to see morning talk show hosts getting along…we hope the ladies of “The View” are taking notes.

Johnny 5 Still ‘Alive’: The wacky 80’s robot film, “Short Circuit,” is living to see another day. Dimension Films is remaking the film which centers on a robot that has a personality, Variety reports. No word yet on casting, but recently booted “Dancing With the Stars” contestant, and original “Short Circuit” star, Steve Guttenberg, has some free time on his hands.
