BRITNEY’S PIXIE: It may not be long before Britney Spears takes off the various wigs she’s been sporting since the infamous head-shaving incident. THE LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL spoke with Criscilla Crossland, one of the four dancers that joined Spears on her recent House of Blues mini-tour, and Crossland reportedly said that Britney playfully asked the dancers if they would consider cutting their hair to match hers. According to Crossland, Britney’s hair is now at a length of about two inches, and “she looks so good she should model.” Marie Claire Style Director Cleo Glyde also told ACCESS HOLLYWOOD that Britney should lose the wigs, saying that she should own the pixie cut look like Natalie Portman did (following her head-shaving for ‘V For Vendetta’).

PARIS IN ATLANTIS?: Is Paris Hilton jetting to the Bahamas this weekend? E! ONLINE’s MARC MALKIN reports that Hilton was apparently confirmed before her sentencing to attend this weekend’s opening of the Cove Atlantis resort, which will feature a mini-concert by Janet Jackson. According to Malkin, organizers of the opening are still planning on Paris to come to the festivities. A source close to Paris reportedly tells Malkin that there are no plans for a Bahamian getaway, adding, “but, of course, you never know with Paris.” A rep for Paris did not comment when contacted by Malkin. Other guests said to be attending the opening are Whitney Houston, Oprah Winfrey, Courtney Love, Usher and America Ferrera.

THE PRINCESS & THE P.: Princes William and Harry have acquired more big names to perform at a concert honoring their mother, the late Princess Diana, reports REUTERS. P. Diddy, Tom Jones and Nelly Furtado are among the artists who have been added to the show’s roster, which is planned for July 1st at the new Wembley Stadium in London. The concert, which marks the 10th anniversary of her death — as well as celebrating what would have been her 46th birthday — is reportedly designed to reflect the tastes of the late princess and her two sons. Other performers already announced include Elton John, Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Lily Allen, and Kanye West. In recognition of Diana’s love of ballet and musicals, the concert will also reportedly include a performance by the English National Ballet and a medley specially devised by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The five-hour event will be broadcast live Worldwide.

NO WEDDING DANCE FOR JULIANNE?: Julianne Hough, Anton Apolo Ohno’s partner on “Dancing With the Stars,” has postponed her planned Aug. 8 wedding to former dancer Zach Wilson, reports PEOPLE. But Hough insists that there is no trouble in paradise. “[Zach and I] are still together,” she reportedly says. “We just want [more time] before we get married. It’s all good!” Hough reportedly says that she’s so busy with the show, they decided to take some time before rushing into the wedding.

WHEN SPIN-OFFS ATTACK!: Unsigned bands are about to get their chance to perform for a giant audience, courtesy of the team behind “American Idol.” If you watched the show last night, you may have noticed a brief spot asking bands to submit themselves for an undisclosed competition. The mystery has been solved, as VARIETY reports that new series “The Search for the Next American Band” is being developed by the “Idol” producers and the FOX network for a probable fall premiere. Like “Idol,” bands will compete each week in front of judges and a live audience, eventually being widdled down until a champion emerges in the finale. There is reportedly no age limit for contestants (as there is on “Idol”), and the new show will spend more time focusing on the personal dynamics of the bandmembers and how they cope with the competition and pressures of fame.

EDDIE’S ‘FANTASY’: And finally, some casting news: THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER announces that Eddie Murphy is attached to star in Columbia Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of “Fantasy Island.” Murphy will reportedly play multiple roles in the film, which is based on the popular TV series that ran from 1978-84 and starred Ricardo Montalban. Described as a “family-oriented comedy,” the project will be written by Jay Scherick and David Ronn, who most recently teamed with Murphy on “Norbit.” Murphy can be heard as the voice of “Donkey” in “Shrek the Third,” opening tomorrow.
