“Glee” Roars Back With A Beiste – “Pronounced Like Beast!”: After “Glee’s” great Season 2 premiere last night, we’re obsessed with the show’s new breakout character, Coach Shannon Beiste, played by the stellar Dot Jones! E! Online’s Marc Malkin has awesome scoop on some great tidbits about the actress that we’re guessing most of America only just met last night. According to E!, Dot previously won 15 world arm wrestling championships, is an impressive 6’4” and used to star on the medieval-themed fighting competition show, “Knights and Warriors,” as Lady Battleaxe. The actress, who has also appeared on a slew of shows including “Cougar Town,” “HawthoRNe” and “Desperate Housewives,” convinced “Glee” co-executive producer Brad Falchuk to put her on the show following a chance meeting at an LA area Whole Foods. “I said to him, ‘I want to be on ‘Glee.’ I love it,’” Dot recalled. “Brad goes, ‘Can you sing?’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m not Mariah Carey, but I can carry a tune.’ And I’ll be damned if they didn’t call my agent and asked my availability starting the middle of July because they were creating a character for me.” Long live Dot and Coach Beiste!
