Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans: August 15, 2007 by Tommy Vergason

A BRITNEY STORY…ABOUT MUSIC?: Could the MTV Video Music Awards mark Britney Spears’ official musical “comeback?” E! ONLINE’s MARC MALKIN reports that MTV is rumored to have lined up Britney for the Sept. 9 show’s opening act! A rep for MTV told Malkin, “I cannot confirm or deny it.” Britney last opened the show four years ago, when she, Christina Aguilera and Madonna shocked the world with a combined performance…and some infamous kisses.

THE RIGHT PRICE FOR PARIS?: Paris Hilton is also rumored to be lining up a new gig…as a paid party-goer. A Las Vegas “insider” reportedly tells THE NY POST’s PAGE SIX that Paris and her sister, Nicky, are “shopping their partying ways to Vegas at the price of around $500,000” to make appearances at clubs for New Year’s parties. Hilton’s rep, Mike Sitrick, told Page Six, “that is not accurate.” In related news, USMAGAZINE.COM reports that Paris’ Spanish-style 1920s mansion was recently sold for $4.25 million.

CHANGING TIMES: Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster doesn’t envy today’s young celebrities and the attention they receive. “Thank god when I was 18 they didn’t have people following you around; they respected the fact that I was 18,” the 44-year-old actress reportedly told MORE magazine. “There wasn’t that star status when I was coming up as a young actor, and you didn’t get paid very much. Now you’ll have 20-year-olds making huge amounts of money. It’s just a different time.”

DOWN TO EARTH: Jamie Foxx recognizes his elevated star status since winning an Oscar two years ago, but he told MEN’S HEALTH magazine that he doesn’t let the acclaim and attention get to his head. “Exposed ego is a weakness,” he reportedly said. “You become lofty and it feels so good, it’s all meringue, it tastes great. But to maintain that would burn you out. Every day you have to go back to ground level. People want to see you back at ground level anyway.”

LOVE BITES: Evan Rachel Wood received much acclaim for her role in 2003’s “Thirteen,” but the 19-year-old actress is getting the most attention these days over her relationship with shock-rocker Marilyn Manson. In response to to those who “worry” about her personal life, Wood reportedly told GQ magazine, “I’m really just being me and growing up. And I’m sorry if I have blond hair and blue eyes and my boyfriend looks like a vampire. What do you want me to do about it?”

‘BUTTON’S’ BABY STAR: Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is apparently launching a movie career…at only 14-months old! The infant daughter of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie is listed on IMDB.COM as having a role in Brad’s upcoming movie, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” The listing doesn’t indicate what particular role the youngster plays in the film, in which a man (Pitt) begins his life at 50-years-old and then ages backwards into a baby. “Button,” also starring Cate Blanchett & Elle Fanning, opens in November 2008.
