The war of words between Rosie O’Donnell and Lindsay Lohan continues, but is there a truce coming?
Rosie appeared on the “Today” show again on Thursday, where she explained why she spoke out about the actress earlier this week when asked if she believed Lindsay was a good choice to play Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick.”
“I [was] watching Whitney Houston’s funeral, and I remember thinking, ‘Why didn’t more people say what they knew?’” Rosie said. “We all knew, when she would not show up to do this show, not show up to do my show, we watched ‘Being Bobby Brown’ and it was like watching Sid and Nancy, they were people who were in the throes of addiction.
“But all that anyone cared about was that the show was getting ratings, not that this woman, this talented individual, this human being, this mother, this daughter, was worth saving,” the former talk show host continued. “To look at Lindsay Lohan, you can’t help but feel for her. I don’t think she’s untalented, I think she’s quite talented.”
On Tuesday, Lindsay spoke exclusively to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson about Rosie’s comments.
“It’s funny that someone you don’t know at all can say something so intrusive and so knowing,” the 25-year-old said.
“I know that I’m great… I know Liz Taylor really well and we shared some makeup artists… same hairstylist, we’ve worked with a lot of the same people. She sent me a ring at one point in my life, from her House of Taylor Costume Collection,” Lindsay continued. “I’m really lucky to be able to do this role and I just want to honor her the way that she should be honored, because she’s helped a lot of people in her life.”
Adding, “I’m going to do the best that I can do with the role and I’m very excited to do it.”
