Rosie O’Donnell Reacts To Weight Loss Compliments Following Her Slender ‘Oprah Winfrey Show’ Appearance

When Rosie O’Donnell hit the stage for “Surprise Oprah: A Farewell Special” last month, the returning talk show host was looking thinner, and she confirmed to Access Hollywood she has indeed been getting in shape.

“I don’t know how much truthfully,” Rosie told Access Hollywood at Monday night’s Bowery Residents Committee Inaugural Benefit Gala in New York City of her weight loss. “But I’ve been trying.”

Rosie said that after her “Oprah Winfrey Show” appearance, a number of people complimented her on her smaller frame, but she put some of the credit on the garb she donned that night.

“A lot of people said that, which made me want to go out and buy that outfit in every color,” Rosie said. “I think it was some sort of deception of the clothing. I don’t know.”

Rosie is gearing up for the premiere of her Oprah Winfrey Network talk show, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” this fall, and she’s buzzing about taking over Oprah’s Chicago studio, even if it means commuting.

“With the ending of her show and trying to start it up, we really didn’t get around to [sorting out a show in New York],” Rosie said. “Her studio was empty. It was like the Rolls Royce of all the studios I’ve ever been in, in my life.”

Rosie confirmed that many of the staff on her new show would be mined from Oprah’s crew, including her set designer and director.

“I’m really excited,” Rosie said.

Beyond her own show, Rosie said she’s happy for Katie Couric, who is also heading to daytime talk television with her own show on ABC.

“Fantastic,” Rosie said of the Katie news. “I think she can do anything she puts her mind to and bravo to her.”
