Rosie O’Donnell Reveals She Had Weight Loss Surgery In 2013

Rosie O’Donnell revealed she lost 40 lbs., after undergoing surgery.

While serving as the keynote speaker at the Go Red For Women Luncheon in Detroit on Friday, Rosie revealed she had surgery in July 2013, according to CBS Detroit.

Rosie reportedly had a gastric sleeve operation when she weighed 220 pounds.

“I did it to save my life,” Rosie said, per People.

Prior to her key note speech, Rosie addressed why she was promoting heart health.

“I was very lucky. I had 100 percent blockage for over 60 hours. I did not call 911. Most women don’t. … I did what many women do, I did not take care of myself,” Rosie told My Fox Detroit, referring to her 2012 heart attack.

“And that’s why I’m here – to try and get women to know you’re worth it, take care of yourself and know the symptoms,” she added.
