‘Rush’: Larenz Tate On How Dr. Alex Burke’s Theft Will Haunt Him

Larenz Tate’s Dr. Alex Burke is in trouble on USA’s “Rush.”

In last week’s series premiere, Dr. Alex stole a bag of blood from the hospital he works at to help out his longtime pal, Dr. William P. Rush (Tom Ellis). Rush was operating on a gang member who was suffering from a gunshot wound, and the blood helped saved the man’s life.

Taking it, though, puts Dr. Alex’s career, on the line.

“It’s gonna haunt him quite a bit because, you know, it’s against medical protocol to do that,” Larenz told AccessHollywood.com after USA flew us up to the show’s set in Vancouver, where they made us their guests. “That blood is treated and barcoded. It’s illegal to do so.”

Larenz suggested during a chat with Access and other reporters that the incident will plague his character for several episodes of the drama about a rogue doctor in LA.

“It’s, how do you get out of that? It’s not going to be easy for him to get out of that,” Larenz said. “So, it’s gonna haunt him in the first few episodes.”

The actor said his character, the more responsible of the medical school pals, will need to get his wilder friend to give him aid to resolve the situation.

“Rush is gonna have to help him,” Larenz told reporters. “It’s not just a pickle he’s in. Alex is in some real trouble. And I’m happy that the writers were able to give me that storyline, because now, what do I do? My back is against the wall. We see what Alex is able to do for Rush. What is Rush able to do for Alex and that part I can’t tell you.”

“Rush” airs Thursdays at 9/8c on USA.
