Ryan Gosling Reveals Past Tie To ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’ Co-Star Steve Carell

Ryan Gosling recently achieved a longtime goal by starring in “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” alongside Steve Carell.

“I just love Steve Carell – I’ve always wanted to work with him,” Ryan told Access Hollywood at the film’s premiere in New York City on Tuesday. “I did, briefly, when I was 17 – the first thing I got was a pilot that Steve was in — but we didn’t get any scenes together.”

The 30-year-old actor said that even then, the former star of “The Office” was so laugh-inducing that his hilarity actually caused problems on set at the time.

“[Steve] was so funny that it was ruining takes,” Ryan recalled. “Nobody could finish what they were doing because they were laughing so hard. At one point, the boom guy had to throw down his boom and just have a laugh attack in the corner.

“I just thought, ‘I have to work with this guy one day,” he continued. “I started watching him on ‘The Daily Show,’ and then all of his movies, and when [‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’] came up I just had to do it.”

So did Steve remember that first fateful encounter with the then-teenage Ryan?

“He had no memory of it,” Ryan admitted with a laugh. “I was like, borderline-stalking him, so…”

Although Steve did not remember his initial work experience with the former “Blue Valentine” star, he had nothing but praise for his co-star after filming their latest comedy together – due out in theaters on July 29.

”[Ryan is] an incredibly good guy,” Steve told Access. “I honestly think, as good-looking as he is on the outside, [he is] even better-looking in here — his heart.”
