Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Confirm Split!

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have called it quits.

The couple has split after two years of marriage, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage,” the couple said in a joint statement to Access Hollywood on Tuesday. “We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

Scarlett, 26, and Ryan, 34, began dating in 2007 before announcing their engagement in May 2008.

They wed in a private ceremony in Vancouver, British Columbia, in September 2008.

Throughout their relationship, the couple largely kept quiet about each other, rarely appearing together in public. However, in April 2010, Scarlett opened up about her “Sexiest Man Alive” beau, telling InStyle magazine she had found a “home” in her love for Ryan.

“I mean, you’re married and suddenly you have your own family,” Scarlett told the magazine at the time. “There’s a nice comfort in that. That part of your life is certain, in a way. You’ve got your home in that other person.”

Ryan was previously engaged to rocker Alanis Morrisette in 2004, before the couple split in 2007.

Over the years, Scarlett has been romantically linked to actors Josh Hartnett and Patrick Wilson, as well as rocker Jared Leto.

This was the first marriage for both stars.

It’s the fourth celebrity split announced this week. Elizabeth Hurley revealed she and husband Arun Nayar had separated, an announcement the actress made on her Twitter page on Sunday; AccessHollywood.com broke the news on Monday that “Dexter” co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were splitting; and former “High School Musical” sweethearts Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens called it quits, according to several reports on Monday.
