Salma Hayek Steps Out For Awards Show; Talks Motherhood

Salma Hayek took a rare night away from her beautiful, almost one-year-old daughter, Valentina, for the Crystal+Lucy Awards in New York City Wednesday night. And though she stunned on the red carpet in a fitted Alexander McQueen dress and found herself surrounded by stars, including Jada Pinkett Smith and Debra Messing, Salma’s thoughts were on her little girl.

“I was with her right before we came,” she told Access Hollywood. “I was in the car telling my partner, I know it’s been ten minutes, but I miss her already.”

Salma said she is smitten with motherhood and all the things Valentina does.

“She sticks her tongue out, she claps at everything,” Salma enthused. “From day one, she’s been smiling and laughing. She’s a very happy baby. Everything she does melts my heart.”

At last night’s ceremony, Salma had something else to be proud of. She was presented with the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television. And she was joined at the event by Hollywood’s female heavy hitters who were celebrating women in film.

“It’s such a bizarre life to lead in this place and anyone who even has a shred of dignity who’s walking around? I mean you gotta give it up,” Meg Ryan said.

Inside, Meg joined her tour de force castmates of “The Women” – Annette Benning, Debra Messing, Eva Mendes and Jada Pinkett Smith as they were honored for their upcoming estrogen packed film, due out in September.

“I never cared so much about what I looked like on set than on this set,” Eva said. “I’ve worked with amazing male co-stars but it was nothing like this, it was like, ‘Ooh! Jada’s gonna love this.’”
