Sam Raimi Reportedly In Talks To Direct ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Prequel

It may be so long “Spider-Man,” hello Yellow Brick Road for director Sam Raimi.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the former “Spider-Man” director, who left the web-slinging franchise earlier this year, is in talks with Disney to direct “Oz, The Great and Powerful.”

The studio reportedly offered Raimi the job over the week and both parties are said to be finalizing the financial details.

The director will reportedly begin pre-production shortly if the project comes together.

When contacted by EW, Disney would comment on the reported prequel news.

In more news from The Emerald City, last week “Glee’s” Lea Michele signed on to voice Dorothy in an animated 3D musical, “Dorothy of Oz,” Variety reported. Also reportedly signed on to the animated movie are Jim Belushi as the Lion, Dan Aykroyd as the Scarecrow and Kelsey Grammer as the Tin Man.
