Sam Worthington To Join Charlize Theron In ‘Tourist’?

Australian actor Sam Worthington is in talks to star in “The Tourist,” alongside Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, Variety reports.

The actor was brought into the running after Tom Cruise dropped out and joined Cameron Diaz in the untitled James Mangold-directed action comedy, according to the mag.

“The Tourist” is a remake of the 2005 French thriller “Anthony Zimmer” and will be directed by Bharat Nalluri.

Charlize will play an Interpol agent who attempts to trap an elusive criminal, who is also her ex-lover.

Sam most recently starred in “Terminator Salvation” and has a number of upcoming projects including James Cameron’s 3-D drama “Avatar,” a remake of “Clash of the Titans,” and appearing alongside of Keira Knightley in “Last Night.”

Filming for “The Tourist” is expected to begin in early 2010.
