Sandra Bullock’s Tearful Thank You To Jay Leno: ‘You Have Always Been So Kind’

Sandra Bullock appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Wednesday and the actress was overcome with emotion when saying goodbye to the exiting late night legend.

“I’d like to say something. I’m going to start crying,” the “Gravity” star said, becoming visibly emotional as she reached for Jay’s hand. “You’ve always been so kind. That’s saying a lot in this business because we like to be mean.”

The actress said Jay has always been supportive and encouraging of her career – even when he knew a project may not be winning any awards any time soon.

“There’s not been one time that you haven’t treated me like I had something to offer. Even when the film was horrible and you knew it, you never let me see it in your eyes,” she continued. “When I made crazy life decisions you never questioned [them].

“You were always so welcoming and every single person on your crew was that way consistently, and I just felt special even when I felt very insecure,” she added. “And everyone, I think, in this room and in this country, has felt that every day that you’ve been in their homes. I’m so grateful that I got to be a part of this.”

“You are special,” Jay replied, as he kissed her hand.

Kelly Clarkson took to Twitter to weigh in on Sandy’s moving speech and Jay’s exit, writing, “I’ve always loved Sandra Bullock but she is the sweetest thing & such a beautiful person! She is right. @jayleno is so great! Gonna miss him.”
