Sarah Jessica Parker ‘Would Go Back’ For Third ‘Sex And The City’ Movie; Balks At Talk Of Prequel

Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t ready to retire her “Sex” life, just yet.

“I would go back,” SJP told The Los Angeles Times’ 24 Frames blog when asked about talk of doing a third “Sex and The City” movie. “I think there’s one more story to tell. I know there is.”

While last summer’s “Sex and The City 2” did well at the box office, pulling in more than $95 million at the U.S. box office, it was universally panned by critics – but, the franchise’s leading lady wouldn’t hesitate to give it one more go when the time is right.

“I’d definitely tell that [third] story, and I know [producer Michael Patrick King] would do it right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?” Sarah Jessica added.

As for the idea that the next big screen installment could serve as a prequel, rather than another sequel, the actress balked at the idea of a young Hollywood starlet (Blake Lively and Miley Cyrus are among the names who have been mentioned in online reports) stepping in to Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolos.

“I was like, ‘Wha-a-a-a-t?’ ” the actress told the blog, recalling how she felt when she first heard talk of a prequel. “There are a lot of important and interesting stories that 21-year-olds can tell. I don’t begrudge any 21-year-old the opportunity to tell their stories. They prove to us on an everyday basis that they’re interesting. Even their narcissism is interesting. Even their inertia is interesting. Even their tonal speech patterns are interesting.

“But I don’t think we can pretend to go back,” Sarah Jessica concluded. “It’s creating two histories. It’s like, ‘Oh I didn’t know that about Carrie Bradshaw.’”
