Scarlett Johansson Ready To ‘Break Up’

Scarlett Johansson is gearing up for the release of her second studio album — a collaboration with singer-songwriter Pete Yorn – due out this fall.

Set for release on September 15, the album, which is called “Break Up,” concerns itself with two lovers putting their tumultuous relationship into song.

Scarlett and Pete recorded the album by drawing inspiration from musical collaborators Brigitte Bardot and musician/actor Serge Gainsbourg in the studio.

The nine-track release is comprised of eight songs penned by Pete and one cover of “I Am The Cosmos” by Chris Bell of ‘70s band Big Star.

A video for the album’s first single, the jangly “Relator,” features Scarlett sounding like a more upbeat Mazzy Star vocalist Hope Sandoval, as she duets her raspy pipes with Pete’s upbeat vocal tones.

The video appears to have been filmed recently as Scarlett is sporting her “Iron Man 2” villainess red hair in the clip. Click HERE to watch the video.

The album itself was actually recorded before Scarlett released her 2008 debut LP, “Anywhere I Lay My Head,” a collection of Tom Waits covers, a rep confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Among the tracks expected on “Break Up” include “Search Your Heart,” “Wear and Tear,” and “I Don’t Know what To Do.”

Scarlett and Pete aren’t the only actress-musician duo to hit the scene in recent months — last year, Zooey Deschanel and singer-songwriter M. Ward released their debut album as She & Him.
