Seth MacFarlane Defends His Oscar Nominations Hitler Joke

Seth MacFarlane’s Oscar nominations announcement routine included some eyebrow-raising quips – including a Hitler joke – but the first-time host is defending the joke.

During the nominations with Emma Stone on Thursday morning, Seth said, “The last time Austria and Germany got together and co-produced something it was Hitler, but this is much better,” referring to the Best Picture-nominated movie “Amour.”

The funnyman defended the comment with another joke late Thursday.

“Lotta flap over that Adolf joke. Look, Amour was a great film, so how about this: Austria, we’ll give you the Oscar if you take back Arnold,” Seth Tweeted.

Seth also thanked the Academy for his nomination for Best Song for “Ted”, Tweeting, “thanks Academy for the nom — I’ll be calm when you tell me it was an error.”

Find out who will take home Oscar gold – and what other controversial jokes Seth might make – on February 24 live on ABC at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT.
