In news that is sure to upset Stefon, “Saturday Night Live” star Seth Meyers is engaged!
The 39-year-old “SNL” writer and “Weekend Update” anchor has popped the question to girlfriend Alexi Ashe, a rep for “SNL” confirmed to Access Hollywood on Friday.
Seth and Alexi, a lawyer, met at a wedding a few years back.
“He’s very excited for the next phase of his life,” a source told Us Weekly. “He’s known that she’s The One for awhile, but it was all about timing.”
Adding, “With ‘Late Night,’ his schedule will be slowly easing up. He wanted to do it after ‘SNL’ wrapped [because] he didn’t want to be an absentee fiance. Her family loves him.”
In May, Seth was officially chosen to take over for fellow “SNL” alum Jimmy Fallon as the host of NBC’s “Late Night” when Jimmy moves to “The Tonight Show” in 2014.
The premiere date for “Late Night with Seth Meyers” has yet to be announced, but is expected to debut after the Olympics.
