Shannon Axed From ‘Dancing’ As Injured Cristian Vows To Carry On

Despite the attention the couple garnered for their “showmance,” Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough were exiled from the “Dancing With the Stars,” on Tuesday’s results show.

“The show’s been amazing,” Shannon said after she and her partner were axed. “I’ve learned a lot and I’ve made a friend for life and hopefully a bunch of friends for life.”

Derek said he was also thrilled to have had Shannon as a partner.

“She’s been great, definitely kept me entertained throughout the whole competition,” he said.

In related news, Cristian de la Fuente stayed in the competition despite revealing he ended up with a serious injury to his arm after last night’s competition.

“Well, when we started dancing the samba, right at the beginning, when she fell back, I had an injury on my tendon and I ruptured the tendon of my bicep. So, then I tried to keep going and it was a lot of choreography to keep going and I couldn’t,” Cristian told “Dancing” co-host Tom Bergeron of how it happened. “Then I started looking at my arm, and I was like, ‘Oh my god! I’m in pain,’ and then ‘Oh I have to go back to dancing.’”

De la Fuente said he was diagnosed with a ruptured tendon, which will require surgery to repair.

Before the elimination of Shannon was announced, de la Fuente said he would postpone the surgery if the viewers kept him in (which, they did).

“I just talked to the doctor five minutes ago and he said he can delay the surgery and if people voted for us and they would like for us to be on the show then I would like to not give up,” he said.
