‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Begins Filming

“Sherlock” Season 4 is in production.

On Wednesday, Mark Gatiss, an executive producer of the Masterpiece on PBS (and BBC One in the UK) series, who also plays Sherlock Holmes’ brother, Mycroft Holmes, announced the show is filming again.

“We’re back, the game is on!” he said in a video clip that was posted to the show’s social media pages.

The BBC released new details about the series, which will be made up of three episodes and begin with Sherlock home, on UK soil, and Doctor Watson (Martin Freeman) and his wife, Mary (Amanda Abbington), on their way toward parenthood.

“Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch was “genuinely thrilled to be back filming ‘Sherlock’ with all the cast and crew,” the series star said in a statement included in a release from BBC One.

Steven Moffat and Gatiss, the show’s co-creators, writers and executive producers, also released a statement

“Sherlock series four – here we go again! Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street – and it always feels like coming home. Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson bringing adventure, romance and terror in their wake. This is the story we’ve been telling from the beginning. A story about to reach its climax…” their statement concluded.
