Shia LaBeouf Explains Exit From Broadway’s Orphans, Talks ‘Tension’ With Alec Baldwin

Shia LaBeouf has finally addressed the reason for his exit from the Broadway production of “Orphans,” which he was originally set to star in alongside Alec Baldwin.

“I’m pretty passionate and impulsive, and [Alec is] a very passionate individual as well. And I think that impulsiveness and that passion makes for some fireworks,” Shia told David Letterman on Monday night’s “The Late Show.”

Asked why he got fired, Shia said there was conflict between the two men.

“I think because me and Alec had tension as men. Not as artists, but as men,” Shia said. “In a room, that became a hard thing to deal with, and when you’ve got tension as men that’s tough ‘til July, I think. It’s cool for increments, but I think to do that for a long period of time would have been tough.”

Shia suggested the two have no problems now.

“I hope it’s pretty good. He’s a great actor and I wish him the best of luck,” Shia said when Dave asked what their relationship is like now.

But, when Dave asked what would happen if he tried to arrange a reunion between Shia and Alec, Shia said he wasn’t sure that was possible.

“I think that’d be a tough one to pull off, man. I mean, I’m all for it,” he replied.
