Shia LaBeouf Lands Role In Robert Redford’s ‘The Company You Keep’

It’s goodbye Michael Bay and Optimus Prime, hello Robert Redford for Shia LaBeouf.

The 25-year-old actor will star in the big screen adaptation of “The Company You Keep,” directed by and starring Robert Redford, Variety reported.

Shia plays a young journalist hunting for a former Weather Underground militant – played by Redford – who has been on the run from the FBI for decades.

“This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country’s ideals against their government,” producer Nicolas Chartier said in a statement to the trade magazine. “It is absolutely amazing to have Shia LaBeouf, arguably the brightest young star in Hollywood today, paired with the global icon Robert Redford.”

Filming begins in September in Vancouver.

First up, Shia will star in the Depression-era crime-drama, “The Wettest Country in the World,” with Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Mia Wasikowska – slated to hit theaters in December.
