Shia LaBeouf Not In Rehab, But ‘Receiving Treatment For Alcohol Addiction’

Despite reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into rehab, but he is seeking treatment, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction,” a rep for the film star said in a statement to Access.

“He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery. There will be no further comments made at this time,” the statement concluded.

On Monday, X-17 Online ran a story with the headline “Shia LaBeouf Checks In To Rehab.” In the story, the site said they “followed the actor” from his home to a facility where other celebrities have received treatment. The actor was said to be clutching an Alcoholics Anonymous Big Blue Book.

The story was widely picked up across the web.

Last week, the 28-year-old film star was arrested in New York City, after he disturbed a performance of “Cabaret” at Studio 54, according to authorities.

LaBeouf was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and harassment.
