Simon Cowell In 2005: I Like Kids Who Can Talk

Just eight years ago, the idea of having kids was very foreign to Simon Cowell – at least when it came to newborns.

In 2005, Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush chatted with the reality TV mogul about the possibility of becoming a parent.

“Oh no,” the Brit TV personality told Billy when he suggested fans would like to see some little Simons running around.

“I don’t mind it when they can talk. It’s that two years before that you never know what to do with them because you can’t talk to them,” he said at the time.

Adding, “If I could have a child, but you gave birth to a 7-year-old, I’d consider it.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Wednesday, reports surfaced that the 53-year-old “X Factor” boss is expecting his first child with Lauren Silverman, 36.

The news was a big shock to “American Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson, who Access’ Shaun Robinson caught up with at the Do Something Awards on Wednesday.

“What? No, this is news to me. I did not know that!” Jennifer said, when asked what kind of father Simon will be. “[He’ll be] a very strict father. Very serious. But congratulations, Simon Cowell.”

Adding, “Simon with a baby? Oh God.”
