Simon Cowell Open To Having One Direction Become His Baby’s Godfathers

Simon Cowell is open to the idea of having the boys of One Direction become godfathers to his first child.

When Access Hollywood told “The X Factor” judge that the band had previously suggested themselves for the role, Simon told Access it could work.

“Why not?” he laughed as he stopped to talk on “The X Factor” Season 3 premiere red carpet in Los Angeles on Thursday. “We’ll do it. They’re good boys.”

Simon is expecting a son with girlfriend Lauren Silverman and he is ready to experience parenthood.

“I won’t be changing diapers,” he said when Access asked if he’s decided to take on that daddy duty. “But I take each day as it comes, you know? I’ve got used to the news, I’m excited about it. So, it’s a change in my life.”

But, while he’s excited to meet his baby in several months, fans of “The X Factor,” which returns to Fox on September 11, shouldn’t expect a cuddlier Simon behind the judges’ table.

“I doubt it,” he said. “As far as there are people that are terrible, you still tell them, ‘You’re terrible.’ I mean, that will never change. If I like someone, of course you’re nice to them.”

This season, Simon is joined at the judges’ table by Demi Lovato, who is back for her second season, and newcomers Kelly Rowland (who judged the UK version) and Latin star Paulina Rubio.

Sharing the space with three women has created a new dynamic, Simon told Access.

“The girls have kind of taken over a bit,” he said. “I’m the sole guy on the panel, but it’s funny. It’s different for me. I’ve never done it before so I’ve had a good time.”
