Sir Simon Cowell? Former ‘Idol’ Judge Expected To Become Knight

Is Simon Cowell’s ego about to get supersized?

According to reports out of the United Kingdom, including The Daily Mail, the former “American Idol” judge-turned “X Factor” creator is about to get a knighthood from the Queen.

“It would appear that Sir Simon could be on the cards,” royal watcher Neal Sean told Kit Hoover and guest co-host Lisa Rinna on Monday’s Access Hollywood Live.

Neal said that Simon is expected to be one of the names on the New Year’s Honours List.

“We get this New Year’s Honours List, which normally comes out around 28th [or] 29th of December,” Neal told Kit and Lisa. “The Queen publishes a list [where] she decrees who should become a Sir, a Lord, a Knight — all that sort of stuff and apparently this [is] for services to charity.”

According to The Daily Mail, his knighthood will recognize Simon’s fundraising for the victims of the tragic earthquake in Haiti on January 12, among other charitable works.

Simon organized a charity single to benefit Haiti – a cover of R.E.M.‘s “Everybody Hurts,” featuring a superstar cast that included Susan Boyle, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Jon Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue and Leona Lewis.

The music mogul is also a supporter of other charities including Children’s Hospices UK and the World Society for the Protection of Animals.
