Sofia Vergara & Nick Loeb Face Off Over Frozen Embryos

Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb continued their embryo face-off on Thursday, this time with dueling TV morning show interviews.

Sofia appeared on “Good Morning America,” where the “Modern Family” beauty bemoaned the fact that her private life was being brought into the public eye.

“I’ve been working very hard for 20 years to get to this point where I am. I promote all my movies, all my work, but I don’t like promoting my private life. And I don’t want to allow this person to take more advantage of my career and try to promote himself and get press for this,” Sofia told “GMA’s” Amy Robach of her ex-fiance, Nick.

The actress also took issue with the media giving Nick a platform for their private battle, especially at a time when Sofia has been everywhere, promoting her new movie “Hot Pursuit,” as well as getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“I don’t understand why the media is allowing a person to try to put me down and try to make it like something ugly is happening, when nothing is happening,” she said. “I mean, if he wanted press, of course, this is like perfect time. I am having an amazing month.”

Meanwhile, on NBC’s “Today”, Nick sat down with Hoda Kotb, where he talked about taking legal action to preserve and use the frozen embryos the couple created prior to their May 2014 split.

“It looks sort of like a publicity thing,” Hoda suggested to Nick.

“Sure. Unfortunately, I didn’t even come out with this story. It was leaked to the press. There were comments made by her team in the press and I felt like I had to come out and correct the record,” Nick explained.

According to court documents, at the time Sofia and Nick froze their embryos, the couple indicated that should either partner die, the embryos would be thawed, which would make them unusable. However, there was nothing indicating the fate of the embryos if the couple separated.

Now that they’ve split, what is Nick hoping to accomplish by preserving the embryos?

“Do you want to have a baby? Or do you want to have her baby?” Hoda pressed.

“It has nothing to do with whether [it’s] her baby or a baby,” Nick replied. “Lives were already created. A lot of the questions are, ‘Why don’t you move on and meet someone else?’ and no doubt I would love to do that. But doesn’t it matter that two lives have already been created? I wouldn’t toss them aside, [it’s] no different than a child that has already been born.”

And what would happen if Sofia – who is now engaged to Joe Manganiello – wanted to give life to those embryos with Joe – would Nick object?

“As long as I was involved in the parental process,” Nick said.

Sofia and Nick’s legal battle heads to court in Los Angeles on May 22.
