‘Spider-Man’ 4 To Swing Into Theaters In May 2011

“Spider-Man 4” will swing into theaters on May 5, 2011, Columbia Pictures announced on Wednesday.

The fourth installment in the top-grossing superhero franchise will be simultaneously released in IMAX theaters.

Stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will return as Spider-Man’s alter-ego, Peter Parker, and longtime love Mary Jane Watson, respectively, with director Sam Raimi at the helm once more.

In news previously broken by AccessHollywood.com, the film will start shooting in January 2010, according to actor Bruce Campbell, who further told Access that he will have a big role in the film – but couldn’t yet reveal his character.

Some fans have speculated that Bruce, who had memorable cameos in the first three films, might play Spidey villain Mysterio, the master of illusion.
