Stars Show Their Support For National Denim Day & Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 8 is National Denim Day for Breast Cancer Awareness month and stars are rallying to support the noble cause.

EIF Lee National Denim Day is one of the country’s largest single-day fundraisers for breast cancer — reportedly raising more than $80 million to fight the disease since the program’s inception in 1996, according to the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

Celebrity supporters include breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate, Pierce Brosnan and Charlie Sheen, who are urging companies to “go casual for a cause,” by inviting employees to wear their jeans to work on Friday in exchange for a $5 contribution to the fight against the prevalent disease.

“Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman, whose character, Lynette Scavo, battled cancer on the hit ABC series, is this year’s Denim Day ambassador.

“I have six sisters and two beautiful daughters — that’s eight women who mean the world to me,” Felicity said in a statement released on EIF’s website. “I support the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Lee National Denim Day because they fund programs that are making huge strides in breast cancer research and support. When everyone donates $5 each, we are able to raise millions in a single day. It’s about coming together to find a solution.”
