Style Star: Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz’s classic style, mixed with a European flair, won this Spanish beauty Access Hollywood’s honors as our latest Style Star.

When Penelope first came on the scene in 1994, her dramatic dark bangs and striking features drew comparisons to American fashion icon Audrey Hepburn.

But over the years, Penelope has definitely made her style her own.

At Sunday’s 2010 Goya awards in Madrid, Penelope wore a stunning ivory vintage Gianni Versace gown, with vertical zippers spanning the back of the dress.

Penelope has such a great sense of style that she not only wears clothes – she designs them too.

With her sister, actress/model Monica Cruz, Penelope has designed a clothing and accessory line for the Spanish fashion chain, Mango, for the past three seasons.

After winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2009 for “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” Penelope’s career hasn’t slowed down. She’s reportedly in talks to join Johnny Depp in the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” the fourth installment in Disney’s franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will also be making a cameo in “Sex and the City 2.”

Gaining a few pounds for a role, as she did for the role of Carla in the December 2009 movie “Nine,” doesn’t bother Penelope.

“It would scare me more to do it the other way around,” she told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos. “To lose a lot of weight for a character and risk my health in any way.”

Penelope is also rumored to be engaged to Javier Bardem, but the actress doesn’t discuss her personal life with the media.

“It’s always a trap to share your secrets,” she told Britain’s Psychologies magazine. “I did that when I first got attention as a teenager, acting in Spain. I would get so upset because I’d talk about a movie for two hours and then all I’d read was something personal that I’d talked about.”
