Susan Boyle Pulls Out Of ‘Dancing’ Performance Over Illness

Susan Boyle has canceled her planned performance on “Dancing with the Stars” this week due to illness, a rep for the singer confirmed to Access Hollywood.

“Susan Boyle has had to cancel her performance on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as her doctor advised her not to sing due to a severe throat infection,” the “Britain’s Got Talent” runner-up’s rep told Access in a statement on Monday. “Susan is very upset at letting her fans down. Their continued support means so much to her.”

This is the second time in less than a month that the Scottish singer and YouTube sensation has bowed out of performing on a stateside reality show.

SuBo pulled out of performing on “America’s Got Talent” on September 8 after there was an issue related to her song choice – her cover of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” – a track from her upcoming album, “The Gift,” due out on November 9.

Reports had surfaced that Lou himself had turned down a request for Susan to perform the single on U.S. television back in September. However, reps for the rocker previously told Access Hollywood that the song had not been cleared for the American market in time for the show, something that had nothing to do with the former Velvet Underground member.

The reps added that “Perfect Day” was the only song the former “Britain’s Got Talent” runner-up had rehearsed and there was not enough time for her to prepare another song.

At the time, however, a source close to “AGT” told Access that a then-report on TMZ claiming that the rocker was responsible for Susan not being able to perform the song was essentially true.

Susan’s scrapped performance was originally supposed to be a part of the season finale of “AGT.”

At the time, a rep for Susan put the killed performance down to “unforeseen circumstances relating to the song,” but didn’t specify further.
