Taylor Momsen Covers Eminem, Rihanna Track, Says No Beef With Pop Singer

Just days after Taylor Momsen was quoted on Spin magazine’s website appearing to suggest she was annoyed by Rihanna’s rock ‘n’ roll clothing choices, the former “Gossip Girl” decided to take on a song featuring the pop superstar, during an appearance in London.

On Wednesday, Taylor – with a guitarist from her band, The Pretty Reckless, performed Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” for the BBC’s Radio 1. Taylor and her axeman started out their performance borrowing from British band The xx’s song “Islands,” before transitioning into Rihanna’s chorus from “Love the Way You Lie”

Before she covered Rihanna, a host of headlines were sparked after Spin.com quoted Taylor as having reportedly said that the pop singer’s clothing choices might not be appropriate for her style of music.

“People think pop is rock, and the lines are getting blurred,” Taylor said, according to Spin. “Now Rihanna’s wearing f***in’ leather jackets, and it’s really annoying.”

Taylor told BBC’s Radio 1, however, that she meant no offense by the remarks.

“I love Rihanna. I think she’s awesome. I really do,” Taylor said. “People take quotes and they cut out the middle section — the compliment part — and put a comma and make you sound really rude.

“I was comparing the difference between rock and pop and talking about the market,” she added.

The actress-turned-singer went on to claim that she is a fan of RiRi’s work.

“I think Rihanna’s awesome,” Taylor said.

When asked though, if she’d consider working with her, Taylor said she prefers rocking out.

“I listen to more rock music than pop music, but she definitely has a cool vibe going. She makes great pop records,” Taylor noted.
