Taylor Swift On Kanye West: ‘I Don’t Know Him & I Don’t Want To Start Anything’

Following Sunday’s chaos at the MTV Video Music Awards, where Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, the country cutie told reporters she was bewildered by the whole incident – but still managed to have a great night.

“I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I had just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on the stage,” Taylor said in the press room following the awards show in New York City on Sunday night. “And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that.”

“I don’t know him and I’ve never met him,” she continued, saying that she is a fan of Kanye’s music, but wants to avoid any sort of feud with the rapper. “You know I just… I don’t know him and I don’t want to start anything because I just, you know, I had a great night tonight.”

Taylor said her night was helped out by Beyonce, who asked her to come to onstage to give an acceptance speech for winning Best Female Video for “You Belong To Me.”

“I thought it was just so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she’s always done. She’s always just been a great person before anything else, before the talented artist, the superstar, she’s always been a great person,” Taylor said of Beyonce. “I thought that I couldn’t love Beyonce more, and then tonight happened and it was just wonderful.”

Taylor said in addition to Beyonce, people from all over reached out to her following Kanye’s interruption.

“I’ve been getting so many text messages. Everybody’s been really nice so I’ve had a really really fun night,” she added. “It’s been interesting definitely. It’s definitely been an interesting night.”
