‘Teen Mom’ Star Amber Portwood Rejects House Arrest Plea Deal For Hitting Child’s Father

A star of the MTV reality show “Teen Mom” has rejected a prosecutors’ offer that would have kept her out of jail on felony domestic battery and child neglect charges.

Anderson police investigated the then-20-year-old Amber Portwood after a September episode showed her slapping, choking and kicking the then-24-year-old father of her daughter.

Portwood attended a Madison County court hearing Thursday. She told The Herald Bulletin she wouldn’t be able to do her job as a mother if she accepted the plea deal of 90 days on house arrest and two years of probation.

The judge gave Portwood and her attorney 60 days to work out a new plea deal or go to trial.

Officials say dozens of viewers called the state’s child abuse hotline to report Portwood’s outbursts.
