Teresa Giudice ‘Shocked’ By 15-Month Prison Sentence

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s” Teresa Giudice has broken her silence after being given 15 months behind bars for conspiracy and bankruptcy charges.

“I was so nervous yesterday that I was shaking,” Teresa told Andy Cohen of her sentencing on “Watch What Happens Live,” airing Monday.

The reality star appeared alongside husband Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice, who received 41 months in jail time.

“My nerves were pulling. At one point I couldn’t even move my fingers, they were like stuck. I couldn’t open my hands. My nerves were shot. I’ve had sleepless nights. I mean, I was shocked,” she continued. “I mean, it was very unexpected. I don’t even know what to say. I really don’t know what to say.”

The reality star, who repeatedly denied any wrongdoing on her Bravo reality series, admitted to Andy, “I do need to read things before I sign them.”

The 42-year-old mom also spoke about how her oldest daughter, 11-year-old Gia, is handling the news.

“She was being strong for me, I could tell,” Teresa said. “She said, ‘Mommy, don’t worry about it. I’ll be there. I’ll help daddy with the girls. That will make me a better mom. That’ll prepare me for when I’m a mom.’ It broke my heart when she said that.”

Teresa is ordered to surrender on January 5, 2015. Joe will begin serving his sentence after his wife, so that a parent will be able to remain with their four daughters.

Teresa and Joe’s “Watch What Happens Live” interview airs Monday, Oct. 6 at 9 PM on Bravo. A second part follows on Thursday, Oct. 9.
