‘The Carrie Diaries’ Revealed!

Long before “Sex and The City’s” Carrie Bradshaw was busy writing weekly newspaper columns and bestsellers – the young scribe was hard at work in her diary.

On Tuesday, HarperCollins released the first image of the cover to Candace Bushnell’s first of two new books in “The Carrie Diaries,” which is set during Carrie Bradshaw’s teen years.

According to the publisher, “The Carrie Diaries” will focus on Carrie’s first love and the book cover art is related to an incident with Carrie’s mother. The books will also explore how the beloved character decides to embark on a path of writing.

In September, HarperCollins released a statement saying Carrie was a style and social maven – even during her formative years.

“Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd – she led it,” the publisher said. “It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene.”

The first book in “The Carrie Diaries” is slated to hit shelves in 2010 and “Sex and The City 2” hits the big screen on May 28, 2010.
