‘The Descendants’ Star Shailene Woodley: George Clooney ‘Taught Me How To Be A Better Human Being’

George Clooney had a major impact on the life of his “The Descendants” co-star, Shailene Woodley.

“He’s really taught me how to be a better human being throughout this process. He’s just so grounded and generous and grateful… he emanates the word gratitude,” the actress told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “He’s awesome and he’s so down to earth that there was no intimidation factor.”

The young star said her “The Descendants” family has been very supportive during her rise to big screen stardom.

’[George and director Alexander Payne] have all been such great mentors and kind of guiding me through this process,” the 20-year-old, best known for her role on ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” continued.

With the accolades already rolling in – the actress was just awarded the National Board Of Review’s Best Supporting Actress award– Shailene is still taking in all the excitement.

“It’s crazy, it’s surreal, for sure… I just feel so grateful,” she told Billy and Kit about the buzz for her performance, which also includes rumblings of an Oscar nomination.

And though the star is the talk of Hollywood, the actress said she would really rather prefer to spend her time outside of the limelight.

“Honestly I was just rather be wearing no makeup, hiking somewhere in the mountains, than going to tons and tons of parties all the time,” she added.
