The Duggars Say Josie Brooklyn ‘Doing Remarkable’; Would ‘Welcome’ 20th Child

After arriving to the Duggar family at only 25 weeks, baby Josie Brooklyn Duggar is gaining weight and doing well after a premature birth.

Despite only weighing 1 lb., 6 oz at the time of her birth and suffering a perforated bowel just eight days after being born, the newest Duggar is slowing catching up with the rest of her 18 brothers and sisters.

“She is doing remarkable,” Michelle Duggar told Meredith Vieria on the “Today” show on Tuesday morning. Josie currently weighs in at 11 lbs., 6 oz., but is lactose intolerant.

Dad Jim Bob reiterated their youngest daughter is “doing very well now,” adding, “by the time she’s two she should be caught up developmentally.”

The Duggar parents said Josie also requires supplemental oxygen at night, but she is being weaned off of it.

Michelle, who was diagnosed with preeclampsia (high blood pressure) during her pregnancy, told Meredith she is “back to normal… I feel really good, I’m so thankful.”
The “19 Kids and Counting” mom also said she’s open to having a 20th child.

“God is the one who gives life and I’m just so grateful and thankful and we would welcome another if he saw fit,” she said. “We’ll wait and see.”
